We recognize that we are all part of a larger community of organizations and individuals taking immediate, necessary steps to keep ourselves and others around us healthy. While social distancing may be part of our new normal, staying active and connected remain more important than ever. It is vital to have a safe place to boost our immune systems, as well as our mental and physical health through exercise. That’s why we have made physical changes to our gym and are re-working every member’s workout program. Following are just some of the steps that we have taken to make sure we are ready for your safe return. Please read them carefully.
Attendance for sessions is capped at 50% and our check-in protocol has been changed for the safety of our Uplift community.
- All in-person sessions will be booked through Pike13 to manage our class size limitations.
- Attendance tracking will be managed by a staff member in the reception area.
- A staff member will check you in or use your phone for touch-free, self-check-in.
- We will use time-stamped contact tracing.
- No cash will be accepted as payment for sessions or Uplift product purchases.
We are implementing mandatory social distancing and other precautions to maximize your safety.
- Uplift staff will monitor CO2 levels during sessions and open windows and doors for increased airflow when PPM levels get near 700. Yes, we ARE working out with windows and doors open! As the weather improves, we will be ventilating the gym with outdoor air even more.
- 4 air filtration systems with HEPA filters run continuously 24/7
- 3 A/C units constantly run to increase airflow
- Uplift staff will manage entry and exit of members to maintain social distancing and adherence to capacity limitations of no more than 4 members at a time.
- All staff and members will be monitored daily with a questionnaire and a temperature check upon entry.
- All staff and members are required to wear face masks at all times, except to drink water.
- All equipment has been repositioned into “workout stations” to maintain social distancing of at least 10 feet between clients. You will be assigned a station and remain in the station for your workout.
- Member workout programs are re-written to accommodate social distancing and limit the contamination of surfaces.
- Clear signage is posted as a reminder for all of us to maintain social distancing in all areas.
- Markings on the floor will indicate social distancing of 10 feet.
- The shower, scale, changing room, and lockers are not presently available for use.
- Hygiene supplies will be available in all both bathrooms.
- A thorough cleaning of all equipment by both members and staff will occur following the conclusion of every session.
- UPLIFT team will disinfect high-touch areas and equipment with Clear Gear Sports Spray, which the EPA has approved as effective at killing viruses like the coronavirus.
- There will be a minimum of 15 minutes between sessions for cleaning and safe member exit/entry.
- Uplift staff or members who have COVID-19 symptoms (i.e., fever, cough, or shortness of breath) must notify Nancy Townsend by phone (202-417-1055) and stay home.
- Should a member test positive for COVID-19, Uplift will immediately notify anyone in the Uplift community who may have been exposed and follow CDC guidelines to protect your health, up to and including the closure of the gym.
Here’s what we expect from you:
- Come to the gym dressed in your workout clothing, as our changing room is closed for now.
- Enter the studio through the door to the right and exit the studio through the door to the left. There is touch-free hand sanitizer upon entry and in every workout station.
- Agree to take a short questionnaire and touch-free temperature check upon entry.
- Practice social distancing, i.e., stay at least ten feet away from all others in the gym.
- Use your home bathroom before and after training, to reduce overall usage of the gym’s bathrooms.
- If needed, use the bathroom closest to your workout station.
- Plan to shower elsewhere for now.
- Wear a triple-layer cloth mask that covers your nose and mouth before entering Uplift and when inside the gym.
- After each class, please assist Uplift staff in cleaning and sanitizing the equipment in your workout station using provided wipes and Clear Gear Sports Spray, which the EPA has approved as effective at killing viruses like the coronavirus.
